Our Founders

Stanley J. Szpytek, Jr., President and Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Szpytek has been a member of the fire service since 1977. Working through the ranks of a metropolitan Chicago fire protection district, Mr. Szpytek currently holds the position of deputy fire chief / fire marshal. His education includes a degree in fire science, numerous certifications with State of Illinois Office of the State Fire Marshal, paramedic licensure with the Illinois Department of Public Health and certification with the National Fire Protection Association as a fire inspector.

As a founding partner of Fire and Life-Safety Strategies, LLC, Mr. Szpytek utilizes his education and experience to provide occupancies with customized fire and life-safety assessment, compliance and training. Mr. Szpytek designed this business to follow a philosophy of "proactive fire prevention and protection" rather than 'reactive firefighting". His experience as the director of emergency operations as well as director of fire prevention bureau activities of a large suburban fire department directly benefits FLS's clients.

Manuel Melton, Vice President and Assessment Manager
Mr. Melton has been a member of the fire service since 1979. He has worked for two fire protection districts and currently holds the ranks of fire inspector and fire apparatus engineer with a metropolitan Chicago fire protection district. His education includes numerous certifications with State of Illinois Office of the State Fire Marshal and EMT-B licensure with the Illinois Department of Public Health. As a founding partner of Fire and Life-Safety Strategies, LLC, Mr. Melton provides his expertise as a professional fire inspector. Mr. Melton's ability to thoroughly inspect an occupancy (business, property, etc.) for fire hazards and code compliance directly benefits FLS's clients.
